Mata de S. Mateus Building
The site is an area of transition in consolidated urban context, between the organic expansion during the mid twentieth century and the creation of large housing developments of the century. The land on which we work, allowed the design of a building shot to older buildings, opening onto a grassy area that separates it from all the newer buildings.
In architectural terms we opted for a design that reflects this moment of rupture, while it consolidates the continuous built.
O local constitui uma área de transição no contexto urbano consolidado, entre a expansão orgânica ocorrida em meados do séc XX e a criação de grandes urbanizações do final do século. O terreno em que intervimos, permitiu o projeto de um edifício de remate às construções mais antigas, abrindo para uma área verde que o separa do conjunto dos edifícios mais recentes.
Em termos arquitetónicos optámos por um desenho que reflete esse momento de rutura, ao mesmo tempo que consolida o contínuo construido.
